DESCRIPTION:Newcastle Surgical Training Centre\n\nThis course is designed for core surgical trainees in Plastic\nSurgery, Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery who\nhave little or no experience in microsurgery or a refresher\ncourse for senior trainees\n\nThe course is designed for surgical trainees in Plastic\nSurgery, Otolaryngology, Maxillofacial Surgery, to attain\npractical skills in Microvascular Surgery and has been\nstructured to gain maximum hands-on experience under\nthe supervision of experienced faculty. Each participant\nwill have a separate table equipped with operating\nmicroscope, micro instruments and sutures.\n\nAt the end of the course trainees will be able to know and\nhandle microsurgical instruments\n\nTOPICS COVERED\n\n• Microsurgery equipment\n• Basics of Microsurgery techniques\n\nNerve Coaptation\n\n• Primary Nerve Repair\n• Interpositional Nerve Graft\n\nVessel Anastomosis\n• End to End\n• End to side\nInterpositional vein graft\n\n\nSpecial features of the course\n\n\n• Intensive two-day hands on practical experience using microscopes, avian tissue and simulators to practice vessels anastomosis\n\n• Faculty: Delegate ratio of 1:2 delivered by consultants and Senior SpRs in Plastic Surgery\n\n• Consultant delivered lectures covering basic principles, pearls and pitfalls of microsurgery\n\n• All refreshments included\n\nCourse certificate\n\n\n\nTARGET AUDIENCE\n\nCT2- ST4\n\n
